Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms

2015_05_22 Revlon Matte-18

After the popularity of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains which had a sheer glossy finish, Revlon released two additional jumbo pencil lines, the Colorburst Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms.  The Lacquer Balms are known for containing glitter, so they have never appealed to me.  The Matte Balms however are super opaque and pigmented.

I enjoy the range of shades I have.  They are creamy and apply and wear easily.  There is a slight minty smell but it doesn’t last very long and these are quite comfortable.

Elusive (205)

Elusive is a neutral-to-warm light pink.  This is great for every day.

Showy (220)

Showy is a cool-toned bright pink.  No surprise, this is my favorite.  I wear this pink the most!

Unapologetic (210)

Unapologetic is a bright pinky-coral.  It is a great shade for summertime!

Sultry (225)

Sultry is a brownish mauve.  Darker than I expected, and best for fall.

Standout (250)

Standout is a brown-toned red.  I have worn this once and it was a little creamy for such a dark color.  I was constantly worried about it slipping off my lips.

Revlon Matte Swatches

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

One of the first lip product lines I went crazy over was the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains (what a mouthful!).  These are a chubby lip crayon that stains the lips with a super comfortable balmy texture.  They have a slight minty flavor which goes away fairly quickly and these wear off decently evenly.     Honey (001)

Honey is a neutral rosy shade.  I find that this stains my lips a bright pink unless I put a balm on my lips before applying (I usually use an EOS balm).Cherish (015)

Cherish is a cool light pink.  I really like this shade for springtime.Rendezvous (040)

Rendezvous is an orange shade which sheers out to be quite wearable.  A great summer color and awesome for dipping your toes into orange lipsticks.Sweetheart (025)

Sweetheart is a bright warm pink.

Lovesick (020)

Lovesick is a bright cool pink.  I really like both this shade and Sweetheart and pick between them based on the tones of my outfit.Romantic (045)

Romantic is a red that with the slighty sheer opacity and glossy finish makes a red lip very easy to pull off.

Adore (055)

Adore is a brown-toned red that has a slight golden shimmer.  I love this in the fall.

Crush (005)

Crush is a berry shade that I really like in the fall and winter.

Revlon Balm Stains

I like the range of shades and feel that each of these is easy to pull off.  The chubby pencil and glossy finish makes these simple to reapply without a mirror.2015_05_22 Revlon Balm Stains-26

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters

2015_05_05-138

Coming into warmer weather, for day to day wear I often prefer a lighter lip color. When I want something a bit more sheer I tend to grab one of my many Revlon Lip Butters.

They are comfortable to wear, feeling like a balm. The range of shades is quite impressive and while I am not a packaging fanatic I really like how the outer tube is indicative of the lip shade. I have quite a few of these so let’s get started.

Creme Brulee (095)

Creme Brulee is a satin nude.  I haven’t really used this much in the past but I have gotten more comfortable with nudes so I think I will try to grab this for daily outings where I just want to look a little bit together.Peach Parfait (025)

Peach Parfait is a peach shade (shocking, I know!).  I love the color but there is a TON of glitter that gets everywhere when I wear this.  I think I will actually be throwing this one out.

Juicy Papaya (027)

Juicy Papaya is a sheer tint of coral. Very easy for summer.

Tutti Frutti (015)

Tutti Frutti is a sheer orange.  It is bolder than Juicy Papaya but still very wearable.

Cupcake (055)

Cupcake is a very light cool-tone pink. It is a little frosty but I kind of like it and I feel like it goes with a lot of the clothes I wear for a light daytime lip color.

Strawberry Shortcake (080)

Strawberry Shortcake is another I rarely used but was my favorite when trying all of these on.  It is a great everyday pink!

Pink Truffle (001)

Pink Truffle is the one I thought was my most easy to wear shade but it’s a bit more brown-toned than I remembered.  I think I prefer this kind of color for fall.

Sugar Plum (085)

Sugar Plum is a sheer mauve. I like this for fall and winter.

Berry Smoothie (050)

Berry Smoothie is a rosy mauve.  This has a bit of glitter but isn’t messy.  I think it feels a little gritty but it wears nicely.

Wild Watermelon (063)

Wild Watermelon is a sheer warm red.  I really like this for summer and for easing into a red lip.

Raspberry Pie (010)

Raspberry Pie is a sheer fuchsia.  It is a fun pop of color.

Lollipop (075)

Lollipop is a fuchsia with a blue duo-chrome.  It is great for nights or going out. Or just for fun 🙂

Red Velvet (040)

Red Velvet is a brown-red.  I really enjoyed this last fall and heading into winter.

I really enjoy the range of colors in this line and find these to wear really nicely fading evenly.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks

I think my favorite drugstore lipstick has to be the Super Lustrous line from Revlon.

There is a huge range of shades and finishes.  The packaging is simple but classic. It is sturdy enough to handle being tossed in my bag without me worrying about the lid popping off, and sleek enough for my pocket.  There is no scent and I can get them for about $5 each at Walmart or Target.

When I was just starting to get into makeup I saw a bunch of YouTube videos and blog posts about Mac lipstick dupes, specifically in the Revlon line, so I went a little overboard accumulating these.2015_03_06-79

I’ve swatched all of my current collection on my lips and arm and will include any relevant observations for each shade below.

Pink Cognito - 820 (Shine)

Pink Cognito is a barely there pink sheen on the lips.  It smooths my lips out for a healthy glow.

Lover's Coral - 825 (Shine)Lover’s Coral is a sheer warm tint I’ve gotten compliments on when I was out and about.

Kissable Pink - 805 (Shine)

Kissable Pink is a mid-tone shine that can be worn every day.

Fuchsia Shock - 815 (Shine)

Fuchsia Shock has a bit more pigment that the other shine formula lipsticks for a bit of a bolder look.

Rich Girl Red - 830 (Shine)

Rich Girl Red is a barely there red lip that is very wearable.

Pink Pout - 002 (Matte)

Pink Pout is a light cool-tone pink in a matte finish.  This is a dupe for Mac Snob.

Primrose - 668 (Creme)

Primrose is a light cool-tone pink in a creme finish.  This wears a bit better than Pink Pout.  This is a dupe for Mac Creme Cup.

Demure - 683 (Creme)

Demure is a light warm-tone pink.  It is very nice for summer and fall.

Gentlemen Prefer Pink - 450 (Pearl)

Gentlemen Prefer Pink is a mid-tone pink with a pearl sheen.  It is a pop of color if you don’t mind a hint of frost finish.

Pink in the Afternoon - 415 (Creme)

Pink in the Afternoon is a warm mid-tone pink that I am comfortable wearing for everyday.

Stormy Pink - 011 (Matte)

Stormy Pink is a cool pink matte.  I love this color but it has to be built up quite a bit.  This is a dupe for Mac Pink Nouveau.

Sultry Samba - 014 (Matte)

Sultry Samba is a bright hot pink matte.  This is a shade I love for spring and summer but this one is quite patchy.

Coralberry - 674 (Creme)

Coralberry a someone muted coral.  It is fun for summer

Sassy Mauve - 463 (Creme)

Sassy Mauve nice mauve as the name suggests.  It is a great fall shade.

Berry Couture - 835 (Shine)

Berry Couture is a sheer purple-based pink.  I like this one in summer and fall.

Wild Orchid - 457 (Pearl)

Wild Orchid is a bright pink with a blue duo-chrome.  It is a bold lip for nights out.

Kiss Me Coral - 750 (Creme)

Kiss Me Coral is a rich coral.  I’m not sure how I like this one on me.  It might be a bit too yellow for me…or I need more bronze-y face products or a tan. Hmmm…something to try again this summer if/when I get some color.

Pink Velvet - 423 (Creme)

Pink Velvet is a rosy pink.  A nice daytime shade for full-face occasions.

Berry Rich - 510 (Creme)

Berry Rich is a warm-tone pink .  I like this for fall.

Cherries in the Snow - 440 (Creme)

Cherries in the Snow is a pink-leaning red that is a great bold lip for winter and spring.  This is a dupe for Urban Decay Catfight.

Red Lacquer - 029 (Pearl)

Red Lacquer is a sheer warm red.  I think of this as a daytime red for spring and summer.

Fire Ice - 720 (Creme)

Fire & Ice is a opaque orange-based red with a creme finish.  I really enjoy wearing this when I blot off the top layer.  It’s a classic color.

Black Cherry - 477 (Creme)

Black Cherry is a deep burgundy.  It’s a great fall shade and I like wearing is lightly as a stain.

Raisin Rage - 630 (Creme)

Raisin Rage is a warm brown which goes well the the current 90s lip trend.  I think it makes me look a little vampy so I need to play around with how best to pull this one off.

The Shine finish shades are sheer but very easy to wear for a hint of color.  The Mattes are comfortable enough but can be tricky to apply evenly.  The Creme and Pearl shades are a breeze to put on and are my favorites.  To the best of my recollection, all of these wear off very nicely.

Overall, I love this lipstick line.  There are some hits and misses but I really just need to make an effort to pull these out and cycle through them!

Here are swatches of all of these Super Lustrous shades on my arm.
